About Lake Kawaguchi
Lake Kawaguchi is the closest of the Fuji Five Lakes and the one where the mountain stands cleanly across the water. The odds matter more than the hour here: Fuji hides behind cloud most of the summer and shows itself on cold clear mornings from November to February, which is when serious sessions are booked. Chureito Pagoda, twenty minutes away up four hundred steps, gives the frame everyone knows — pagoda, blossom and mountain stacked in one shot — for about ten days in mid-April. Sometimes — it depends on the place. Many temples, shrines and gardens ask for permission or a fee for professional or wedding-dress shoots, and some don't allow them at all; public streets and the area outside a temple's gate are usually simpler. Your photographer knows which places allow it and plans the route around that, and any fee a place charges for it is separate from the package price.
