Osanbashi Pier and the Minato Mirai skyline
A wooden roof deck over the cruise terminal, open day and night, looking straight across the water at the Landmark Tower, the Ferris wheel and the sail-shaped hotel.
About Osanbashi Pier and the Minato Mirai skyline
Get directionsOsanbashi is Yokohama's international passenger pier, and its terminal is built so that the roof is a public park: a deck of wooden boards and lawns that rises and falls like a landscape, open around the clock. From the far end, Minato Mirai lines up across the water — the Landmark Tower, the Cosmo Clock Ferris wheel and the curved, sail-shaped InterContinental — with the Red Brick Warehouses in front.
For portraits, the curves of the deck give a horizon without railings, and the skyline works as a backdrop from almost anywhere along the western side. Turn around and the Bay Bridge and the open harbour are behind you.
The view is at its best in the half hour after sunset, when the sky is still blue and the towers are lit. When a cruise ship is in, it can block part of the view and bring crowds, so it is worth checking the port's schedule for your date. The pier is about ten minutes on foot from Nihon-odori station.

Tips
Check whether a cruise ship is docked on your date — the port publishes its schedule. Bring a layer: the end of the pier is windy in every season.
